David Sheft

David Shefte

Chief Executive Officer

David H. Shefte was named chief executive officer of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Denver in January 2013. Shefte has over 12 years of leadership experience in hospital administration, health care consulting and long term care. Before joining HealthSouth, Mr. Shefte was an administrator for HCA in the Denver market and worked on the campus of North Suburban Medical Center and Sky Ridge Medical Center.

Shefte received his bachelor's degree and master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Shefte is a member of the American College of HealthCare Executives and is active in other various local community groups. He is married and has three boys at home.

Brian A. Miller, DO

Brian A. Miller, D.O

Medical Director

Dr. Miller is the medical director of HealthSouth Littleton. He received his doctorate in 2011 from the Midwestern University in Glendale, Ariz. having more than six years of diverse experience in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital affiliated with Chicago Medical School and the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Wheaton, Ill. Dr. Miller is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation through the ABPMR. He is married with a son and a Colorado native.

Brendan J. Polun, DO

Medical Director

Dr. Brendan Polun is a medical director at HealthSouth Littleton.  He received his doctorate from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of New York Institute of Technology in 2011 having over 6 years of diverse experience in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital affiliated with Chicago Medical School and the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Wheaton, Ill. Dr. Polun is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation through the ABPMR. He is married with a son and is originally from Baltimore, Md. Dr. Polun has a passion for healthy living with the ability to help patients gain their independence.

Jaquelyn Burge

Jacquelyn Burge, CRRN

Director of Quality and Risk Management

Jacqui began her career at HealthSouth as a staff nurse in Sarasota, Fla in 2012. She joined HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Littleton in 2014 as a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse. Before transitioning into the director of quality and risk management role, Jacqui held a nurse supervisor position followed by the infection control practitioner position. She holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing and is currently working on her master’s in public health from the University of Liverpool.

Lisa Crowell

Lisa M Crowell, MPT

Director of Therapy Operations

Lisa has been a practicing physical therapist for more than 16 years and has more than 14 years of leadership experience in rehabilitation. In 2001, she was awarded her master’s degree in physical therapy at Ohio University where she also received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1998 with a minor in health sciences. Lisa has extensive knowledge in long term care, home health and has operated in positions at both local and regional levels. Her areas of expertise include geriatrics and vestibular rehabilitation. She lives in Highlands Ranch, Colo. with her husband, daughter, dog and cat. Lisa enjoys running in her spare time.  

Erin Daubert

Erin Daubert, MSW

Director of Case Management  

Erin, the director of case management, began her rehabilitation career five years ago. Prior to healthcare, she assisted young families working through transition and crisis. She received her Bachelor of Science in human development and family studies from Colorado State University. She attended the University of New England, while working full-time and obtained her master’s degree in social work in 2014. Her passion is advocacy and assisting patients and families navigate through challenging times. Erin is a Colorado native from Lakewood. She is married with one daughter and a goldendoodle.

Kirsten Dreher

Kirsten Dreher

Director of Marketing Operations

Kirsten is a sixth generation Colorado native and a nurse by background. She has a diversified background of clinical management, sales and marketing. Kirsten is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana State University, holds a home health administrators license and is a certified gerontologist. Kirsten enjoys traveling, running and being a mom to two wonderful children. 

Stephanie Franszczak

Stephanie Franszczak, MEd

Director of Human Resources

Stephanie has more than two decades of diverse, progressive and multi-state experience in human resources. She earned an undergraduate degree in human rehabilitative services with a minor in community health from the University of Northern Colorado and a graduate degree in education from Colorado State University. Stephanie is a Colorado native who grew up in Littleton and now resides in the City of Denver with her husband, three cats and a dog.

Liz Freudenberg

Liz Freudenberg

Controller

Liz joined HealthSouth Denver in March 2013. Prior to joining the HealthSouth team, she worked in the audit practice of an international accounting firm within their Denver office. Liz holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accounting from Colorado State University. She is a certified public accountant in the State of Colorado and holds a membership in the American Institute of CPAs.

Bruce Jurgens

Bruce Jurgens

Director of Plant Operations

Bruce has worked for HealthSouth since August 2006. He transferred to Denver from Van Matre-HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Rockford, IL. Bruce is a member of ASHE and NFPA. He was a firefighter/EMT for 30 years. He is married and has two grown children.

Nathaniel J. Miller, D.O.

Associate Medical Director

Dr. Miller is the medical director of HealthSouth Colorado Springs and the associate medical director of HealthSouth Littleton. He received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Denver and a Master of Science in organic chemistry from CU Denver. He received his doctorate at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Marianjoy, Wheaton, Ill.  Dr. Miller is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation through the ABPMR and AOA, with a subspecialty board-certification in traumatic brain injury. He is married with three children, with his oldest diagnosed with Autism.

Kim Uran

Kim Uran

Chief Nursing Officer

Kim Uran became the chief nursing officer of HealthSouth Littleton in May 2017. She has more than 10 years of nursing experience in multiple settings and has served in a nursing leadership role for more than five years. Kim has spent the majority of her nursing career working at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo. Kim received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Creighton University in 2007. She later received her master’s degree in business in health administration from the University of Colorado Denver in 2014. Kim prides herself on developing caregivers that prioritize their focus on providing patient centered quality care. She is a Colorado native and enjoys her free time in the company of her husband and two children.
